GP+
Early in 2023 the Academy launched the GP+ training programme to develop their knowledge within a specialist interest whilst maintaining general practice skills.
GP+ is currently closed to applications
GP+ programme required a minimum commitment of 12 months, ideally on a full time basis but with a minimum requirement of 6 sessions per week (between clinical and training).
For a full time GP, approximately 5 sessions per week were spent in practice, the remaining 4 sessions allocated to the specialist interest and any associated training/courses. These sessions are protected to undertake clinical observational placements, taught education and clinical sessions.
A study budget was agreed at the outset of the programme to meet their outcomes to support the development of the specialist interest.
What a GP+ could expect:
- A supportive learning environment
- A comprehensive induction
- Commitment from the whole practice team to support the GP+ programme
- Commitment from the Primary and Community Care Academy to identify a GP Mentor
- Commitment from the services to fund agreed specialist interest education/training
