GP+
Early in 2023 the Academy launched the GP+ training programme where three GPs could apply to develop their knowledge within a specialist interest whilst maintaining general practice skills.
GP+ programme required a minimum commitment of 12 months, ideally on a full time basis but with a minimum requirement of 6 sessions per week (between clinical and training).
For a full time GP, approximately 5 sessions per week to be spent in the practice. This will be planned with the practice at the beginning of the placement to ensure that the needs of the practice and the other element of the role are met.
The remaining 4 sessions are allocated to the specialist interest and any associated training/courses. These sessions are protected to undertake clinical observational placements, taught education sessions and clinical sessions.
A study budget will be agreed at the outset of the programme to meet the agreed outcomes support the development of the specialist interest.
