Dermatology

The Dermatology GP+ Programme is the only 2 year programme that is available. You will be supported to undertake a Dermatology diploma (PGDip) at Cardiff University (Distance Learning) whilst working, being supervised and mentored by a GP in practice.

You will be seeing a range of dermatology presentations in primary care whilst studying.

Year 1
Quarter: 1

  • Induction/Welcome to the Practice.
  • Meeting with GP+ team – GP+ programme overview
  • Finalising job plan
  • Identifying learning and development needs
  • Meet  mentor
  • First peer support group meeting
  • Begin Dermatology Diploma (PG Dip)

Quarter: 2

  • Peer support group meeting
  • Dermatology Diploma (PG Dip)
  • Commence dermatology clinics in practice

Quarter: 3

  • Peer support group meeting
  • Dermatology Diploma (PG Dip)
  • Dermatology clinics

Quarter: 4

  • Peer support group meeting

Quarter: 4

Towards the end of your training programme the GP+ team will meet with you and the practice management team to agree next steps and discuss what support is required once you step off the programme.

Although stepping off the programme could look different for each GP, your salaried GP role is guaranteed and your salary will be reviewed. It is envisioned that for the Dermatology GP role you will work in primary care with agreed sessions to undertake dermatology and minor surgery clinics either for the practice, or a group of practices.
