GP+ programme 2023/24 requires a minimum commitment of 6 sessions per week for a 12 month period. To get the most out of the GP+ programme it is recommended that this undertaken on a full time basis (9 sessions/ 37.5h per week), which will be split between Salaried GP work and education and training in a special interest area.
For a full time GP, approximately 5 sessions per week will be spent in a practice. Your role will be job planned with the practice and the Primary and Community Care Academy at the beginning of the placement to ensure that all elements of the programme are met. The remaining 4 sessions will be allocated to the specialist side of your role and any associated training/courses. These sessions will be protected to enable you to undertake clinical observational placements, taught education sessions and clinical sessions.
A study budget will be agreed at the outset of the programme to meet the agreed outcomes and support the development of your specialist area of interest.
A GP Mentor will be identified to support you whilst you undertake the programme.
